"HOLD IT IN TRUST: Leadership as Stewardship"

Overview

The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) will hold its 69th anniversary celebration in September 2009 in Manila Hotel, Manila City with the theme, “Hold it in Trust: Leadership as Stewardship”. The CEAP Convention is an annual gathering of no less than 2,500 school officials coming from 1,260 CEA member-schools nationwide.

This year’s Convention will be highlighted by the participation of the local Bishops and Church leaders as well as selected political leaders – both regarded as the nation’s Stewards.

In the 2008 Convention held in Davao City, the CEAP General Assembly agreed to strengthen the relationship between the local churches and the CEAP schools. Specifically, CEAP schools in cooperation with the local Bishops must ensure that the teachings of the Church are appropriately cascaded into the education curricula. CEAP schools should also be able to craft measures for the active involvement of school personnel and students in parish activities; vice versa, for local Bishops to participate in major school activities. The CBCP and CEAP are envisioned to partner in programs for moulding the young according to the teachings of the Church, influencing good governance, and effecting national social transformation.

The fist two days of the Convention will gather the local Bishops and school leaders in workshops to discuss measures not only to enhance their working relationship at the local level but to address national issues on the country’s governance. It is envisioned that the CEAP and the Church will engage in conversations to come up with guidelines in choosing the political leaders in the 2010 elections building on the theme, “... Leadership as Stewardship “

The third day of the Convention will be highlighted by a forum with the national presidential candidates to ensure that their political platforms include a national agenda for education, good governance and social transformation.
